Our commitment to transparency about advertising, relationships, and editorial independence

Last updated: January 19, 2026

Our Commitment to Transparency

At MCP Finder, we believe transparency is essential to maintaining trust with our community. This page discloses all financial relationships, advertising arrangements, and potential conflicts of interest that could affect our content. We are committed to editorial independence and ensuring our recommendations serve your best interests, not those of advertisers or sponsors.

Advertising & Revenue

MCP Finder generates revenue through advertising to support our operations, content creation, and ongoing maintenance of the directory. We are transparent about how we monetize our platform and how this affects our content.

Google AdSense

We display Google AdSense advertisements on our website

These ads are served by Google and may be personalized based on your browsing history and interests. Google uses cookies and other tracking technologies to deliver relevant advertisements.

Important clarifications about our advertising:

  • No Editorial Influence - Advertisers have no influence over our editorial content, reviews, or recommendations
  • No Paid Placements - Server rankings and inclusion are based solely on merit, not advertising relationships
  • Clear Separation - Advertisements are clearly labeled and visually distinct from editorial content
  • User Control - You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google's ad settings
  • Privacy Protection - See our Privacy Policy for details on data collection and your rights

How Advertising Works

Google AdSense displays advertisements based on:

  • Contextual Targeting - Ads related to the content you're viewing (e.g., developer tools on a server page)
  • Interest-Based Targeting - Ads based on your browsing history and interests across the web
  • Demographic Targeting - Ads based on general demographic information
  • Geographic Targeting - Ads relevant to your location

You can control ad personalization:

  • Visit Google Ads Settings to opt out of personalized ads
  • Use browser extensions or settings to block ads entirely
  • Clear cookies to reset ad personalization
  • Use privacy-focused browsers that limit tracking

Editorial Independence

We maintain strict editorial independence to ensure our content serves your interests, not those of advertisers, sponsors, or server maintainers.

Our Independence Principles

No Pay-for-Play

Server maintainers cannot pay for inclusion in our directory, better reviews, higher rankings, or favorable coverage. All servers are evaluated using the same objective criteria based on testing and merit.

No Sponsored Content

We do not publish sponsored articles, paid reviews, or promotional content disguised as editorial content. All content is created by our team based on hands-on testing and research.

No Affiliate Relationships

We do not have affiliate relationships with MCP server projects, cloud providers, or related services. We don't earn commissions from recommending specific servers or tools.

Objective Evaluation

Our reviews and recommendations are based solely on hands-on testing, technical merit, and user value. We provide honest assessments including both strengths and weaknesses.

Reader First

Our primary obligation is to our readers and the developer community. We prioritize providing accurate, useful information over any commercial considerations.

Relationships & Affiliations

We disclose all relationships that could potentially affect our objectivity or create conflicts of interest.

Current Status (as of January 19, 2026)

Financial Relationships

  • Google AdSense: We display Google AdSense advertisements for revenue
  • No Affiliate Programs: We have no affiliate relationships with any MCP servers, cloud providers, or related services
  • No Sponsorships: We have no sponsorship agreements with server maintainers or companies
  • No Paid Placements: We don't accept payment for reviews, rankings, or directory inclusion

Professional Affiliations

  • Open Source Contributions: Our team members may contribute to open-source MCP projects. When reviewing projects we've contributed to, we disclose this relationship.
  • Community Participation: We participate in MCP community forums, Discord channels, and discussions. This helps us stay informed but doesn't create financial obligations.
  • Not Affiliated with Anthropic: MCP Finder is an independent project. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic, the creators of the Model Context Protocol.

Future Relationships

If we establish any new financial relationships, sponsorships, or affiliations in the future, we will:

  • Update this disclosure page immediately
  • Clearly mark any sponsored or affiliate content
  • Maintain editorial independence regardless of financial relationships
  • Disclose relationships inline when reviewing related products or services
  • Notify our community of significant changes to our business model

Conflict of Interest Policy

We have strict policies to prevent conflicts of interest from affecting our content and recommendations.

Team Member Guidelines

  • Disclosure Requirement - Team members must disclose any personal or financial relationships with projects we cover
  • Recusal Policy - Team members recuse themselves from reviewing projects they're personally involved with or have financial interests in
  • No Personal Gain - Team members cannot accept gifts, payments, or benefits from server maintainers or related companies
  • Independent Review - When a team member has a relationship with a project, another team member conducts the review
  • Transparency - Any unavoidable conflicts are disclosed prominently in the relevant content

Review Process Safeguards

  • Peer Review - All content is reviewed by at least one other team member before publication
  • Standardized Criteria - We use objective, standardized evaluation criteria for all servers
  • Testing-Based - Reviews are based on actual testing results, not marketing materials or relationships
  • Documentation - We document our testing process and results for accountability
  • Community Feedback - We welcome community feedback to identify any bias or inaccuracies

How We Make Money

To maintain transparency, here's a clear explanation of how MCP Finder generates revenue to support our operations:

Current Revenue Sources

  1. Google AdSense Advertising (Primary Revenue Source)

We display Google AdSense ads on our website. We earn revenue when visitors view or click on these ads. This revenue supports our hosting costs, content creation, testing infrastructure, and team compensation.

What We Don't Do

  • ❌ We don't charge server maintainers for inclusion in our directory
  • ❌ We don't accept payment for reviews or rankings
  • ❌ We don't have affiliate relationships that earn commissions from recommendations
  • ❌ We don't sell user data or email lists
  • ❌ We don't publish sponsored content disguised as editorial content
  • ❌ We don't accept gifts or payments from companies we cover

Future Revenue Considerations

As MCP Finder grows, we may explore additional revenue sources such as:

  • Premium Features - Optional paid features for advanced users (e.g., API access, advanced search)
  • Consulting Services - Paid consulting for organizations implementing MCP solutions
  • Training & Workshops - Paid educational content and training programs

Any new revenue sources will be disclosed on this page and will not compromise our editorial independence or content quality.

Server Prioritization & Ranking

We want to be completely transparent about how servers are prioritized and ranked in our directory listings. Understanding our ranking methodology helps you assess the objectivity of our recommendations.

How Servers Are Prioritized in Listings

Server prioritization in our directory is based entirely on merit and objective criteria. No server can pay for better placement, higher rankings, or preferential treatment. Here's exactly how we determine server order in our listings:

Ranking Factors (In Order of Weight)

  1. Quality Score (40% weight)

Based on our hands-on testing: code quality, documentation completeness, error handling, performance, security practices, and adherence to MCP protocol standards.

  2. User Engagement (25% weight)

Page views, time on page, and user interactions. Popular servers that users find valuable naturally rank higher.

  3. Community Feedback (20% weight)

User ratings, reviews, and feedback. Servers with positive community reception rank higher.

  4. Maintenance & Updates (10% weight)

Active maintenance, recent updates, and responsiveness to issues. Well-maintained servers rank higher than abandoned projects.

  5. Content Freshness (5% weight)

How recently we've reviewed and updated the server's documentation. Ensures users see current information.

Ranking Algorithm Transparency

Our ranking algorithm is designed to surface the most valuable, high-quality MCP servers for our users. Here's how it works in detail:

Default Sorting: "Recommended"

By default, servers are sorted by our "Recommended" algorithm, which combines all ranking factors above into a composite score. This provides a balanced view prioritizing quality and user value.

Formula: Composite Score = (Quality × 0.40) + (Engagement × 0.25) + (Community × 0.20) + (Maintenance × 0.10) + (Freshness × 0.05)

Alternative Sorting Options

Users can choose different sorting methods:

  • Most Popular: Sorted by user engagement and page views
  • Highest Rated: Sorted by community ratings and reviews
  • Recently Added: Sorted by date added to directory (newest first)
  • Recently Updated: Sorted by last update date (most recent first)
  • Alphabetical: Simple A-Z sorting by server name

What Doesn't Affect Rankings

To maintain objectivity, the following factors explicitly do NOT affect server rankings:

  • ❌ Payments or financial relationships with server maintainers
  • ❌ Sponsorships or advertising relationships
  • ❌ Personal relationships with development teams
  • ❌ Company size or funding status of server projects
  • ❌ Requests from server maintainers for better placement
  • ❌ Commercial vs. open-source status (both treated equally)

Featured Servers

Occasionally, we may feature specific servers in highlighted sections (e.g., "Editor's Pick" or "Trending This Week"). These selections are based solely on editorial merit, recent developments, or community interest—never on financial considerations. Featured servers are clearly labeled and don't affect the main ranking algorithm.

Ranking Updates & Recalculation

Server rankings are recalculated automatically:

  • Daily: User engagement metrics and community feedback are updated
  • Weekly: Quality scores are recalculated based on new reviews and testing
  • Monthly: Maintenance and freshness scores are updated
  • On-Demand: When we publish new reviews or significant updates

Inclusion Criteria

To be included in our directory, servers must meet minimum quality standards:

  • ✅ Implement the MCP protocol correctly
  • ✅ Provide basic documentation
  • ✅ Be installable and functional
  • ✅ Not contain malicious code or security vulnerabilities
  • ✅ Have a clear purpose and use case

Servers that don't meet these criteria are not listed, regardless of any other factors. Quality standards ensure our directory remains valuable and trustworthy.

Feedback on Rankings

If you believe a server is incorrectly ranked or our algorithm isn't working as intended, pleasecontact us. We regularly review our ranking methodology and welcome community feedback to improve accuracy and fairness.

Third-Party Links & Content

Our website contains links to third-party websites, repositories, and resources. We want to be clear about our relationship with these external sites.

  • No Endorsement - Links to external sites don't constitute endorsement of those sites or their content

  • No Compensation - We don't receive compensation for linking to external sites (no affiliate links)
  • User Responsibility - Users should review the privacy policies and terms of external sites they visit
